DIGITAL ANIMATION
An experiment in DIGITAL ANIMATION CREATED FOR AN ARCHITECTURAL LIGHTING DESIGN PROJECT
ANIMATION PROJECT EXPLANATION
-
This animation project was an experiment in lighting design created as part of a Master's in Architectural Science majoring in Illumination Design at The University of Sydney .
-
Using refracted light from a four-part digital movie, the illusion of a floating image/hologram was created as an experimental form of lighting design.
Using a digital tablet as the light source, the four-part movie was projected upward from the tablet into a reverse, four-sided transparent pyramid, creating the refracted-light illusion.
-
The above video shows a single view of the animation project. The digital tablet then projected this from four different angles simultaneously. (See images in the gallery below)
By setting up the animation projection to hit all four sides of the pyramid at a 45-degree angle, a 3-dimensional hologram of the animation appears to float in the air and can be viewed from four sides of the light source. (See images below)
